POLICE have released an image of a "Wayne Rooney" cycle thief who punched his victim to the floor.
The offender approached a 16-year-old student cyclist in an alleyway at the rear of Glen Eldon Road, St Annes, at 1.45pm on March 1.
He claimed the cycle belonged to him before punching the victim, knocking him to the floor and riding off on the bike.
The cycle is a white coloured "Muddy Fox" mountain bike with red front forks and is police coded. It is valued at £300.
The thief is described as white, mid teens-20 years old, 177cms tall, of heavy build, with short straight light brown hair.
He was also described as having a round face similar to footballer Wayne Rooney, and was wearing a white coloured hooded top with an unknown emblem on the front, faded blue jeans and dirty white trainers.
