PONTIN'S holiday camp in St Annes has been sold to Ocean Parcs.
The traditional holiday cap was sold as part of a £46m takeover.

Business consortium Ocean Parcs announced it had agreed to buy all seven of Pontin's UK sites from Lancashire tycoon and Blackpool Tower owner Trevor Hemmings.

The new owners are led by Pontin's former chief executive officer, Graham Parr, who was brought up in Blackpool.

Pontin's - on Clifton Drive North - has been at the centre of speculation concerning its future for years with rumours suggesting Blackpool International Airport was interested in the Fylde seafront site.

Sir Fred Pontin established his first camp at Brean Sands in Somerset in 1946, to meet the demand for family holidays from soldiers returning from World War Two.

It has changed hands a number of times. Trevor Hemmings bought it from brewer Scottish and Newcastle.
