CROWDS turned out in force to enjoy St Annes Carnival on Saturday.
Drizzle and cool breezes could not dampen the spirits of revellers determined to have a good time, what ever the weather.

Blackpool's town crier, Barry McQueen, launched the procession with a speech as colourful floats toured the route, accompanied by bagpipes and a brass band.

Eventually the skies began to clear and many flots delighted the watching crowds.

The floats included the Wizard of Oz, Disney, Flamenco dancers, cheerleaders and many more, which delighted young and old alike.

The fun continued in Ashton Gardens in the afternoon.

St Annes' new rose queen is 12 year old Jennifer Moore who has chosen Brian House Children's Hospice as the carnival charity for her reign as queen.

Carnival committee chairman Coun Barbara Pagett said the day had gone well, despite inclement weather.

It is hoped a sizeable amount of money will have been raised for charity by the event. Money is still being totalled up.
