Rock legend Bryan Adams will headline on Lytham Green at next year’s Lytham Festival.

The multi-platinum recording artist and Canadian rock giant recently launched his 13th studio album, Get Up, and will entertain the crowds with a string of new hits together with such classics as (Everything I Do) I Do It For You – which still holds the record for the longest-ever run at No 1 in the UK – Summer of ‘69 and Run To You.

He will perform on Lytham Green on Saturday, August 6.

Lytham Festival organisers Cuffe and Taylor today announced the line-up and headliners for the main arena on Lytham Green from Friday, August 5 to Sunday, August 7.

The headline act for the Thursday – the spot taken by dance giants Faithless last year in a newly-extended Lytham Festival – will be revealed in the New Year.

The Friday night, traditionally an ’80s and ’90s night, has been extended to include some huge artists who came to the fore in the 1970s.

We are absolutely thrilled to be announcing so many incredible acts for Lytham Festival this early

The ‘Mix Tape’ night will see stars from the 1970s including The Village People, Bay City Rollers, Earth Wind & Fire, while Toploader, 911, and Liberty X will represent the 1990s.

Eighties group 5 Star complete the line up so far.

The traditional Last Night of the Proms night, on Sunday, August 7, will see the week-long festival close with West End Proms as a string of West End and Broadway stars including Miss Saigon star Lea Salonga, star of Les Miserable and Phantom of the Opera Ramin Karimloo, musical theatre group Collabro, Olivier Award winner Ruthie Henshall, Chicago star Claire Sweeney, Blackpool musical theatre star Jodie Prenger and Lytham-born rising West End star Lucie-Mae Sumner all take to the stage.

Cuffe and Taylor director Peter Taylor said he is delighted with the line-up so far.

Peter said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be announcing so many incredible acts for Lytham Festival this early.

“We work really hard to get everything in place as early as possible and it would seem that we are really on target for the year ahead in securing some great names.

“Our Friday night is traditionally a party night of music for all to enjoy and the line-up would certainly suggest that it is going to be one fantastic celebration of hit music.

“To then have Bryan Adams on Saturday is huge.

“He is an absolute legend and appeals to such a wide audience which is perfect for Lytham and I have no doubt everyone will be belting out his hits.

“And then in addition, the line-up for our traditional Lytham Proms event on the Sunday is brilliant.

“All of the people we have performing that evening are of the highest calibre and all have amazing experience having graced stages across the world. Overall, Lytham Festival 2016 is looking pretty spectacular and with so much on offer which will appeal to such a wide audience we look forward to presenting a magnificent event.”

No details have yet been released for the wider festival, which last year saw events held at Lowther Pavilion, Lytham’s Assembly Rooms, and other venues. A literary festival also took place on Lytham’s Park View playing fields.

Tickets for Lytham Festival go on sale at 9am on Monday.
