Blackpool’s Grand Theatre next week hosts another classic spy-thriller with Agatha Christie’s Black Coffee from Monday to Saturday and starring actor Robert Powell.
He plays te renowned Belgian detective Hercule Poirot who arrives moments too late at a quintessential English country estate, following the murder of eccentric inventor Sir Claud Amory and the theft of his new earth shattering formula.
As Christie’s first play, this staging is a rare treat for her fans.
The great detective appeared in 33 of the legendary crime writer’s novels and more than 50 stories, but only appeared in this one play.
Powell has appeared often at The Grand and is known for roles in The 39 Steps, Four Feathers, Shaka Zulu and was nominated for a BAFTA for the lead role in Franco Zeffirelli’s Jesus of Nazareth.
