WATCHING MPs' question time, I was interested in their salaries and expenses.

They seem to be on to a great lifestyle!
I wish I had one-third of what they get.
Many years ago, to be in Government, men had to have their own cash.
Didn't Barbara Cartland start her novel-writing to earn money so her younger brother could be
in Parliament?
Unfortunately, he was killed in the 1914-18 war.
On that topic, soldiers have to fight for their "dues and demands" when they get injured badly.
The world has gone mad.
I read about the youngest British soldier to be injured in Iraq, who had been offered a compensation payout of £57,000.
This 18-year-old has been left in agony by a shrapnel blast. He has suffered extensive nerve damage to his leg, a broken pelvis and a shattered right hand, his heart stopped twice as medics fought to save him and he later developed the superbug MRSA after a series of operations in the UK.
I also recall reading, in recent years, about libel damages awarded to a former MP of £150,000 because of his "hurt feelings" with regard to a newspaper article.
It has always struck me as ridiculous that injured feelings are apparently valued more than real physical injuries which can affect a person's well-being for many years to come.
As I said, the world has gone mad.
