Blackpool tram tracks host unique art exhibition

Blackpool’s famous tram shelters have proved just the ticket to host a unique art exhibition along the Promenade.

Work from 28 local artists will be on display at 14 stops on both sides of the track between south and north piers until Saturday January 2.

The Hivejacked project has seen the Hive Arts group work with Blackpool Council and Blackpool Transport to install the large scale posters.

Artist Dawn Mander said: “Building on previous successful local and national exhibitions, and with much appreciated support from Blackpool Council and Blackpool Transport, this project will bring a free open air art exhibition, with access for all, to the Promenade.”

Previous exhibitions by the group have been held at The Hive Cafe on Church Street.

In 2019 the Hive hosted a display by the Royal Photographic Society, including work by 10 Blackpool photographers, in a gallery above the cafe which attracted around 12,000 visitors.
