Don't be an idiot and miss out on Green Day musical

The punk pop-opera comes to the Opera House from March 5 to 9 as part of a new tour by Selladoor, the production company which staged Peter Pan at the Winter Gardens’ theatre at Christmas and will present Wizard Of Oz there this year.

American Idiot is the explosive musical using the music from Green Day’s Grammy Award-winning album of the same name, which marks its 15th anniversary next year.

It tells of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world and features hit songs from the album including Boulevard of Broken Dreams, 21 Guns, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Holiday and the blockbuster title track American Idiot.

A spokesman said: “This story of youthful disillusion and mistrust of society and government has never been more current; particularly with the modern parallels in the USA where school children have mobilised to campaign for gun law reform.”

Tickets go on sale April 20.
