Last night’s Steps headline show was the perfect way to get the nine-year-old festival on the road – with a poptastic detour via Ibiza on the Venga Boys’ Venga Bus.

Pat Sharp kept the party spirits high between Saturday Night star Whigfield and the Venga Boys’ sets, before the Lytham Green crowd went wild for the main act.

A mixed crowd, from tiny tots to their grandparents, sang and danced along to some of the 90s’ biggest and best pop hits.

Together for 21 years this year, Steps still had all the moves in their slick audience-friendly routines, and never had to ask twice to get a packed crowd singing alongside at the top of their lungs.

In a change from past Lytham Festivals, it was brilliant fun to have a full on cheese-fest headline set – rather than the shorter performances typical of the traditional Friday night 80s versus 90s night.

Although the years may have passed, the sequins and glitter have not faded, and there’s no way that Steps are Better Best Forgotten.
