REVIEW: Lemar at Lytham Festival
Taking to Stage Too with his full band and two backing singers, the energy, soul and personality he brought to his performance was infectious.
Since appearing on Fame Academy in 2002 and having a couple of hits through the early to mid-2000s, Lemar has been quietly working behind the scenes on his sixth studio album, The Letter. Performing a few tracks from the album through the evening, Lemar explained that he wanted to cover some of the songs that had influenced him while growing up. Much to the audience’s delight, this included soulful covers of Gimme Some Lovin’, Tainted Love and Someday We’ll Be Together.

Hide AdHis acoustic cover of Van Morrison’s Crazy Love showcased his incredible vocal talent and left many audiences members open mouthed, while he and his band brought their character to the stage with a version of Lemar’s 2003 single Dance (With U) mixed in with Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk.
Complete with dance moves and audience participation, Lemar gave Lytham a night to remember.
One local lad who certainly won’t forget the night was 12-year-old Will, who almost stole the show when Lemar invited him on stage to play bass guitar.
Closing with The Letter, Lemar certainly delivered a fitting opener to what is going to be an incredible line up for 2016 at Lytham Festival.
