Coronavirus: Lancashire supermarket Booths announces cafe closures

Lancashire food and drink retailer Booths announced it would close the cafe in each of its Lancashire, Cumbria and Manchester stores today (Friday March 20) as a result of coronavirus advice.

In an online statement, the supermarket said it would be closing the cafes in all 28 of its stores across Cumbria, Lancashire and at its MediaCity branch in Salford.

It also announced that the bakery tables, usually adorned with freshly baked bread and cakes, would be wrapped until further notice.

Booths said: "For the safety of our colleagues, customers & community we've taken the decision to close our in store cafes, which will shut by the end of the day.

"We've listened to your feedback and in light of the most recent Government advice around the coronavirus, as of today our loose artisan bread and cakes on our in-store bakery tables will be wrapped for the time being."
