46-year-old Nicola Miller, of Rossall Road in Cleveleys, spent the last six years of her career as a mobile make-up artist specialising in bridal make-up.

But after the coronavirus pandemic resulted in weddings across the Fylde coast being postponed, Nicola's make-up business was affected.

Nicola said: "I wanted to do something a little bit different, and I knew that sales of afternoon teas had gone up a lot since lockdown.

"I wanted to do something special with a little more luxury.

"This was supposed to be one of my busiest years as a make-up artist, but now I'm excited to start this new business."

Sweet Occasions will operate from her Rossall Road home, and she was confident an increase in home working during the pandemic would result in a high demand for her products.

She continued: "A lot of people aren't going to be going out as much, and more people are working from home now.

"I thought, now that weddings are being cancelled or postponed and probably won't be booked for a long time, this was a good time to set this up.

"I like to make things look nice and pretty, and I put a lot of work into the designs."

Sweet Occasions will launch on October 19. Contact the Facebook page or visit the website with enquiries.
