Head at historic school to step down
A replacement will be announced in the spring.
“There will be ample opportunity for more detailed words of reflection and farewell nearer the time, but I do have to emphasize how much I have truly enjoyed and valued my time here at Baines, and that it has been a privilege to have worked within and led such a unique and caring school,” Mr McCowan wrote in a letter sent home.
“Obviously, there is a strong note of sadness in leaving behind all the pupils and the excellent staff with whom I work, but this has been a carefully considered decision with the governors being aware of the need for succession planning. I will be continuing to work in the wider sphere of secondary education in the future for what I hope are several years to come.”
‘It is business as usual’ until July, he added.
