A case of coronavirus has been confirmed among staff at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Blackpool Council said a member of staff has tested positive, forcing a number of their colleagues into self-isolation at home.

Dr Arif Rajpura, director of public health for Blackpool Council, said: “We are aware of a single positive case at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and are working with them to ensure all necessary precautions have been taken."

A spokesman for Blackpool Pleasure Beach added: "One member of staff has tested positive with Covid-19 following self-isolation and we are working with Public Health at Blackpool Council to ensure all appropriate measures are taken.

"All team members in this immediate working group are self-isolating for 14 days and are being tested."

Visitors must wear face masks on rides and use hand sanitiser before and after leaving carriages. The Pleasure Beach said it also carries out daily temperature testing for all team members before they start work.
