New traffic lights had just been installed at the junction of Marton Drive, Watson Road and St Annes Road when this photograph was taken in 1947. The delivery lorry of Woodhouse & Son coal merchants would have been a familiar sight

During World War Two white stripes were painted on trees to make them visible to traffic and pedestrians in the blackout. Today this view of Harrowside looking towards the Farmers Arms and Highfield Road is still recognisable

An injured soldier and a nanny with a baby carriage are among those enjoying the promenade close to its junction with Station Road , South Shore in the 1880s. On the right is the Holy Trinity Vicarage. The corner of Dean Street (with its mock Tudor panelling) is still recognisable

Blackpool Football Club on Bloomfield Road has seen many changes since this view in 1986. The old South Stand and ticket office have been replaced by the Jimmy Armfield Stand
