The enchanted world of the Wizard of Oz was brought to life as the children of Tarleton CE School, near Preston, took a trip down the Yellow Brick Road when they staged the adventures of Dorothy and her three pals - the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion

Children at Grimsargh playgroup got to grips with life's obstacles to raise money for the village hall. Each child was sponsored to complete as many circuits as possible of a special course which featured a play tunnel, slide and climbing frame. All 15 toddlers who took part raised about 100 with their antics

A day at the zoo proved to be a real winner for a group of Lancashire youngsters. Children from St Andrew's Primary School, Blackpool Road, Preston, have just been given a special award from the World Wildlife Fund for their outstanding efforts in a sponsored walk. A representative from the organisation came to St Andrew's School with a special shield which will now take pride of place in the main hall

How dare you criticise our pitch, it's absolutely ace! That was the message from the satisfied customers at Lea Endowed School after their trip to Preston North End's plastic pitch. Juniors from the school are furious at the planned FA ban on home cup ties. The grass is fine, they say - and they know because they have played on it

A soccer club which encourages youngsters to take up cricket held its first awards presentation. Preston North End players Stephen Wilkes and Shaun Allen went along to Brownedge St Mary's School in Bamber Bridge to congratulate the first graduates of the course held under the new Deepdale Community Programme.
