Can you provide a room for a panto cast member?
Officials at Lowther Pavilion are looking for local accommodation for actors heading to Lytham for this year’s production of Cinderella.
Staged by Lincolnshire-based Polka Dot Pantomimes, Cinderella will be staged from December 10 to 30 and features a total of 28 performances.
Advance ticket sales are already ahead of what they were at the same stage last year for Polka Dot’s production of Aladdin and his Magic Lamp and Lowther manager Roger McCann - but as preparations for the production are finalised, Lowther manager Roger McCann has made an appeal for ‘digs’ for cast members.
“Everyone is really looking forward to welcoming Polka Dot back for another panto,” he said. But the vast majority of the cast will be travelling here for the production and we hope homeowners might be willing to offer them accommodation.
“Although a local accommodation network is fairly commonplace at theatres in other parts of the country, there is no such tradition of ‘digs’ at Lowther so we hope there are people out there with a spare room who would be willing to come forward and help out. We would basically be looking at the whole of December.”
The title role will be played by Emma Wilson, while Luke Glover plays Buttons and James Austin Harvey doubles up as actor, playing Ugly Minga, as well as director.
Fylde Coast actor Jack Wealthall, previously known as Jack Bradley, will be back on the Lowther stage as Dandini after playing the title role in Aladdin last year, and also returning, this time as choreographer as well as a cast member in the role of Fairy Flustered, is Rebecca Taylor-Grayson.
