WEST End superstar Alfie Boe is the first star name to be announced for the 2012 Lytham Proms.

The tenor who grew up in Fleetwood will return to his native Fylde coast to headline the Last Night of the Proms event on the Saturday of what promises to be another sensational three-night extravaganza.

Organisers Cuffe and Taylor Management have plans in place to make the 2012 event – which runs from August 3-5 – even bigger and better than the ground-breaking three-night bill this year.

That saw Status Quo, Katherine Jenkins and Boyzone delight thousands of fans on Lytham Green as the event ran on multiple nights for the first time.

Next year, there will be no grandstands and the audience will be able to take their own seating into the arena on all nights rather than just the Saturday as was the case this year.

There will also be improvements to the VIP area, with the marquees raised and decking laid for outdoor seating.

And they are delighted to have secured the signing of 38-year-old Boe, who is best-known for his current starring role as Jean Valjean in the massive West End Les Miserables.
