Baby porpoise in the swimafter rescue

A baby porpoise which became stranded on the beach opposite Blackpool's Norbeck Castle was rescued by a group of divers and the police.

Officers arrived at the scene and assisted volunteers from the British Divers Marine Rescue Team after 10pm on Saturday night.

For over am hour the group battled to get the baby harbour porpoise back into the sea and it was able to safely swim away.

A Blackpool Police spokesman said: “We’d also like to thank the Lifeboat, the Coastguard and members of the public who also helped out.”
