A play which wowed audiences last summer is back at Lowther Pavilion – and proceeds from a performance is set to boost the coffers of Brian House Children’s Hospice.

John Steinbeck’s classic Of Mice and Men is being staged by the Centre Stage Theatre company, which was established last year by Lynda Clarkson, a long-time stalwart of the Lytham Academy of Theatre Arts (LATA) and Chris Campbell, who has featured in a number of LATA productions.

The Of Mice and Men performances last summer marked the company’s debut.

With the shows proving popular and Steinbeck’s classic on the national curriculum for GCSE, it was decided to stage the show again for schools, and they will take place at Lowther on Monday and Tuesday at 10am and 1pm each day.

On Wednesday, there is an evening performance, and cash raised from ticket sales at that show, which starts at 7.30pm, with tickets costing £6 each, is to go to Brian House.

Lynda, who has directed a host of productions for LATA to great acclaim, is directing Of Mice and Men and said: “We have had a lot of requests from the public to put this play on again and so, along with the school shows, it was decided we would do one more public performance.

“As this has been done mainly for children and young people this time, we wanted to raise money for a local children’s charity and chose Brian House.

“Yet again this extra show has proved very popular and we are again looking at playing to a full house on Wednesday which is fantastic. We want to raise as much as we can. The cast are really excited and looking forward to performing this fabulous play once more.”
