Banking on fun for a holiday of thrills and spills
Blackpool Tower Dungeon is welcoming a brand new character to the spooky attraction from tomorrow as frightening highwayman Ned King arrives in the resort.
Ned was the winner of the attraction’s competition encouraging people to nominate their favourite character from the region’s murky past.

Hide AdGarry Blackadder, general manager, said visitors can come to the attraction “to meet Ned in his new home and hear his account of his infamous career as Lancashire’s most famous highwayman and how he met his untimely demise.”
A family fun theme will run throughout Wyre’s bank holiday activities as two children’s classics are performed for free in outdoor arenas.
Wyre Council has commissioned the Gambolling Arena Theatre Company to stage Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox and The Twits at Memorial Park, in Fleetwood, and Wyre Estuary Country Park, Thornton, on Sunday and Monday respectively, beginning at 11.30am on both days.
Poulton’s Italian Market starts today and runs until Saturday in Market Square, giving people a taste of the finest in Mediterranean food and crafts.

Hide AdAnd two of the Fylde’s cricket clubs will both be busy hosting family fun days on Sunday.
Blackpool Cricket Club, on West Park Drive, is open from 11am and will have bands, singers, artists and a fun fair.
A similar event can also be found at St Annes Cricket Club, on Vernon Road, from 1pm, with a bouncy castle and live music.
Organiser Chris Joy said: “We are here for all ages.
“There’s a six-a-side tournament for youngsters and granddads can join in if they like.”
