Blackpool fire crews cut open Citroen to rescue three casualties after collision with a wall

A car crash in Blackpool lead to a fire crew being called out to cut out three people trapped in a vehicle.

The incident happened yesterday on Ingleway Avenue in Layton at around 8.30pm.

Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of the collision after a black Citroen DS3 had crashed into a wall.

Firefighters released three casualties from the vehicle using holmatro cutting and spreading equipment.

The casualties were then handed over to the care of paramedics at the scene.

The crew were from Blackpool’s Forest Gate station were in attendance for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) confirmed five people were involved altogether with three taken to hospital.

An NWAS spokesman said a 14-year-old had suffered a head injury but it was not considered serious.
