Katie James and Mica Pullen have launched Hermosa in Church Street to bring another new business to the area.

The name means beautiful in Spanish and the women’s boutique salon also offers beauty treatments upstairs.

Katie said: “We wanted it to be a one-stop shopping experience with the accent on glamour.

“We want to give people the real red carpet experience where they can come, be themselves and get all glammed up.

“Downstairs we have our clothing boutique and upstairs are the fitting rooms seating area and our glam bar which has four stations and offers hair nails and make up.

“Our shop is a girls’ one stop shop where you can get your outfit and your treatments for what ever occasion.

“For example we want to offer brides-to-be a champagne day of glamour with their hen party friends, getting nails, eyebrows treatments and make-up done and are looking to offer clothing parties and treatments for proms.

“We had to work very hard to get the boutique just how we wanted it.

“We had been planning the business for a while and in Autumn spotted this shop at 168 Church Street just near the Lingerie Lounge, which we thought would be ideal.

“We got the lease from the council, who have been very helpful, and had to rip out the inside of the shop which had been out of use for a while.

“It was all systems go. We re-plastered the walls and redecorated throughout and are all set for the New Year.”

Katie and Mica met in Spain six years ago and got on so well that they hopped they could get together to start a business.

“We wanted it to be very glamorous and the name Hermosa means beautiful in Spanish which we think the shop is.

"We think this concept is pretty unique to Blackpool – in retail these days you have to go that bit further than the ordinary and that’s what we wanted to do for this part of town which is seeing a bit of a come back.”
