Bosses say closed pub will re-open

The owners of a landmark Fylde pub which suddenly closed its doors hope to have it open again by the end of the month.

Customers were shocked to see a sign on the front door of The Fairhaven in Marine Drive, Fairhaven, thanking them for their support and giving a phone number for the head office of parent company Enterprise Inns if they had any queries.

A spokesperson for Enterprise Inns said: “We are in the process of recruiting a new publican to take on The Fairhaven Hotel, after the previous operator ceased trading.

“Among the candidates we are interviewing are two experienced publicans interested in running this landmark pub.

“We aim to reopen the venue by the end of October, and hope customers old and new will show their support for the incoming publican by visiting The Fairhaven.”

The pub, which is close to Fairhaven Lake and includes an 80-seater restaurant, was given a major refurbishment by Enterprise Inns in 2012, but has had something of a chequered history since.

Early in 2014, the then manager was fined £500 with £450 costs after being prosecuted by Fylde Council for serving out-of-date food.

A new manager took over this year, prompting a wave of generally encouraging online reviews.
