Business-savvy students from Kirkham Grammar School finished runners-up in a competition of 10 teams against some of the region’s cleverest minds.

Students competed in the north Manchester heat of the National Business and Accounting competition, BASE.

The competition was just one of 46 heats attracting in excess of 3,000 learners in more than 580 competing teams nationwide.

The competition was run by the Manchester Society of Chartered Accountants (MSCA), which is the Manchester branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales (ICAEW).

Melanie Christie, ICAEW Regional Director North West, said: “We were very impressed with the teams’ performance and shrewd thinking.”
