Work is set to start on a £70,000 revamp to part of a Fylde village’s high street.

From Monday work will begin on a second phase of improvements to Woodlands Road in Ansdell.

The scheme, expected to take four weeks to complete, will extend down Woodlands Road from the Seymour Road junction towards Blackpool Road.

Coun David Eaves, Fylde Council leader, said: “The first phase of improvements for Woodland Road took place last year and covered the area from the railway bridge to Seymour Road.

“This second phase extends the work further down a road that is a hub of community life as well as being important commercially.

“Last year’s investment proved to be very popular and traders have already expressed support for this second phase.”

The length of road affected will be that of 10 properties which will benefit from resurfacing of forecourts.

The scheme also includes repaving of the pavement in a “brick inlay” style, planting of roadside trees, installation of four new streetlights with brackets for hanging baskets and new kerbs for the road.
