The second annual Focus on Fylde community day at Lowther Pavilion proved popular – and gave those who attended the first glimpse of a visitor the Lytham venue will be seeing much more of before the end of the year.
Priscilla The Goose paid a call to meet Lowther manager Mark Alexander ahead of featuring in the venue’s pantomime Mother Goose, being staged from December 9.
The cast for the panto is still to be announced but Priscilla will be among them during three weeks of family fun around the festive period.
At Focus on Fylde, she met Lancashire-based TV actress Kay Purcell, who opened the event, along with a host of representatives of community organisations and performance societies from all over Fylde, showing what they offer.
Among those taking part were the Ormerod Trust, who will be staging a performance on the organisation’s history at Lowther in early December, the St John Ambulance, Fylde Decorative and Fine Arts Society, Fylde Coast Players and RNLI.
A wide variety of workshops on aspects of performance attracted interest and in the evening, there were performances from local performers and societies, including the Ormerod Players and the Lytham Academy of Theatre Arts. Mark said: “It was a very good day and we were delighted with the turnout. It was reminiscent of a university freshers’ week where people come along and see what is available.”
