Community rallies to support family devastated by house fire
Bin bags full of clothes and other essentials have been donated, while money is also being raised to replace some of what was lost in yesterday's blaze in Rusland Avenue - which also killed their pet dog.
Family friend Hannah Threlfall said the donations will help the family’s seven children, who range in age from three to 13.

"It was when I was leaving the mum last night, her words were, 'This is where reality will kick in'.
"She was stood outside her house and she had nothing. It’s just a shame."
Hannah, who is accepting donations at her home in Troutbeck Crescent, said the family, who were at school and work when the fire started, have been told they have a lucky escape.

"It makes you realise and you thank your lucky stars it happened when nobody was in."
The family, who The Gazette has chosen not to name, said they are 'over the moon with all the help and support' being shown to them, which they described as 'overwhelming'.
