One of the world’s most iconic motorbikes could be sitting in your garage - according to an ambitious Blackpool motorcycle enthusiast.
This custom-built Captain America motorcycle, a replica of the one from the cult film Easy Rider, has been upcycled from a standard motorbike at a Gorton Street garage.
Once a £2,500 Harley Davidson Sportster, it has been rebuilt by the team at AR Harley and Sons, to become a replica of the Captain America cycle worth around £17,500.
Its builders have been doing up motorcycles from the garage for two years, including sending a custom Captain America bike, worth £25,000, to Switzerland as a collector’s item in 2013.
But the difference now is affordability.
Nick Isles, boss at AR Harley and Sons, said: “We’ve been customising bikes for a few years and sending all over the world.

“This one is different because it’s got a different engine that makes it affordable. Many bikes we do reach around £25,000 but this one is more than £15,000.
“There are thousands of the original models, the Harley Davidson Sportster, so anyone who had one and wanted to customise it could have this made.”
The first Captain America cycle made by the team was designed as an artwork, unable to drive much more than a few miles, but this latest build can travel around 60 miles on one tank, meaning Mr Isles has been taking it to meets around the North West.
He added: “We get a great reaction to it - it’s an iconic bike. They’re not built for power or speed, it’s about the aesthetic so you could just get it to put in the house to look at, and there’s plenty who would.
“It’s absolutely unique. We’re so proud of it.”
Still though, the enthusiast is unable to say if this is his favourite ever bike.
He said: “They’re all cool and each bike is different with its own attributes.”
