Baby girl assault was not intentional

A man assaulted a 10-weeks-old baby girl when he knocked over her cot.

Aaron Linley, 23, of Pleasant Street, North Shore, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to assaulting the baby between November 8 and 9 last year.

Defence lawyer Gary McAnulty, said: “There was alcohol involved. It was a reckless not intentional assault.

“He argued with his partner and was going to leave. He was getting his luggage and knocked over the cot containing the baby.”
Linley was bailed for pre-sentence reports by Blackpool magistrates.

He must not contact the baby’s mother and not enter the resort’s St Anthony’s Place.
