Hide AdMagolis, of Sherbourne Road, Blackpool, drove away without checking the dad was all right.
He later admitted taking a vehicle without consent and driving it dangerously, as well as driving while banned and uninsured.
Prosecuting, Peter Barr said: " At 3pm on February 27, the complainant was outside Westminster Primary School waiting to collect his children from school. "He'd just got out of the driver's seat and was closing the door when the door was hit by a black Range Rover.
"One of the other parents said he was driving at speed and exceeding the limit."

"Mr Abdullah comments his children weren't in the car but could so easily have been present, or seen what happened. His children saw the damage to the car afterwards and were very scared and nervous."
Magolis was traced quickly as the car was registered in his mum's name
He admitted he was the driver and said he had crashed it. But when arrested he "did not come quietly" and accused the police of being racist.

Hide AdMagolis' defence lawyer revealed he was still suffering the effects of being stabbed multiple times in an attack in Sheffield where he had been at university.
Judge David Potter said: "You came extremely close to causing serious injury by your dangerous driving. Mercifully Mr Abdullah was spared serious injury and escaped fortunately with only minor injuries.
"This however was a bad case of dangerous driving."
"I bear in mind all that has been said on your behalf, and I recognise the road to recovery will be long and painful."
He suspended his nine month sentence for two years "by the skin of his teeth" and imposed a curfew and rehabilitation order, adding: "Consider yourself a very fortunate young man today."
Magolis was given a two year ban and must do an extended retest.
