Hide AdPam Smith, prosecuting, said the co-owner of the company, Adcroft Hilton, was contacted by his bank saying that between September 20 and 25 last year there had been unusual activity on his bank card.
Checks revealed £2,027 had been withdrawn at banks and the card used in stores. CCTV from one store identified Adamson.
He had worked for a company and cleaned the Adcroft Hilton offices in the evening when no-one was around. He said he found the card and pin number in an envelope, on the floor.
When interviewed Adamson said he was depressed and claimed he was owed money by his employer. David Charnley, defending, said his client, who was remorseful and apologised, had admitted his guilt at the first opportunity, saying he had succumbed to temptation when he found the card. He had been depressed and that was compounded by the death of his mother.
