Estranged hubby harassed wife

Stuart Dunn also telephoned the care home where she worked more than 50 times disrupting the running of the home.

Dunn, 45, of Wolsley Avenue, South Shore, pleaded guilty to harassing wife.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the offence occurred between September 19 and October 12 this year.

Dunn’s wife had terminated the relationship and the couple, who had two children, had not lived together for two-and-a-half years.

In September she reported her husband for harassment and he was warned by police.

The prosecutor said: “She started to receive constant calls and texts – up to 40 times a day.”

Dunn also started telephoning her workplace. The manageress reported Dunn as calling non-stop asking to speak to his wife and enquiring about his children. The manageress told him he was interfering with the running of the home.

He continued calling and the manageress contacted police.

Dunn telephoned when an officer went to see the manageress and when the officer spoke to him the defendant said he had every right to ring as he wanted to know about his children.

In the following 30 minutes the care home phone rang about 20 times and the manageress cancelled the calls.

Dunn’s wife said his behaviour was making her depressed and she was worried about losing her job.

Michael Woosnam, defending, told magistrates that Dunn said on September 25 and 26 his wife and children came to stay. After this he felt she had blanked him. He had not seen the children.

Dunn was bailed for pre-sentence reports by magistrates and must not contact his wife or enter her workplace or Easington Crescent.
