The incident occurred at around 10.40pm on Saturday, April 2 at the Highfield Hotel on Highfield Road.

The victim had been in the pub with his father and a friend when it is believed a verbal altercation broke out between him and another male.

The man then went to leave the pub but was followed by the victim, with the argument continuing.

The victim was assaulted outside the pub. He was taken to A&E at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

We would now like to speak to anyone with information about the incident, and in particular would like to trace the man seen in the attached CCTV image, as we believe he may be able to help with our enquiries.

PC Mark Stringfellow, of Blackpool Police, said: “This was a nasty attack on a male who was simply having a quiet drink in a pub with his father and a friend.

“We would urge anyone who saw the incident, or has information about it, to get in touch.

“We also believe the male in the CCTV images may be able to help with our enquiries.”

The offender is described as a white male, of stocky build.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 1352 of April 2.
