Girlfriend elbower admits lashing out

A man elbowed his girlfriend in the throat.

Neil Holmes pinned her against the kitchen door and grabbed her around the neck.

Holmes, 44, of Laycock Gate, Layton, pleaded guilty to two offences of assault.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with up to 20 days’ rehabilitation to be supervised by the Probation Service, fined £10 with £50 costs and ordered to pay £100 compensation plus £60 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, said Holmes accepted lashing out.

Gary McAnulty, defending, said Holmes caught his partner on the lip recklessly and not done it intentionally. Holmes was now under the care of a psychiatrist and mental health specialists.
