Over 30 tents containing in excess of 1500 cannabis plants - estimated to be worth around £3m to £4m - were unearthed when officers went inside.

A man, 33, and a woman, 28, from Warrington, along with a 44-year-old man from Newton-le-Willows were arrested for their suspected part in the production of the class B drug.

They have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

DI Steve Harry, from Blackpool Police, said: "We know that this type of criminality goes beyond simply growing cannabis as it often fuels organised crime and violence.

"It is thanks to the local community providing us with information and our officers fathering intelligence that we were able to take action."
