A husband alleged to have punched his wife in the chest saying he ‘hoped it stopped her heart’ has made his first appearance at court.
Dean Rusling, 35, of Truro Street, South Shore, pleaded not guilty to assault.
The offence is alleged to have taken place at the couple’s home on March 12.
The prosecution opposed an application for bail for Rusling by defence lawyer Brett Chappell.
Rusling was bailed to April 28 for trial by District Judge Jane Goodwin, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
Rusling must live at his mother’s address in Foster Gardens, Keighley, keep a 9pm to 7am curfew, and not contact the complainant or enter the borough of Blackpool except for pre-arranged court hearings as conditions of his bail.
