She told how Koldorarijs tracked her down using social media and arrived in the resort where she worked and lived in a hotel on Albert Road.

The couple got back together and Boris found work at the hotel and they had another baby.

But that was a catalyst for more domestic violence.

Yesterday he pleaded guilty to three charges of assault and was jailed for 16 weeks for what Bench chairman Brian Nicholson said was: “Sustained and repeated attacks on your wife – offences so serious it warrants immediate custody.”

The court heard the defendant had no previous conviction in the UK and wanted to return to Latvia.

His lawyer Steven Duffy said:” He accepts the Crown’s horrific version of events.”

The prosecutor gave details of the three attacks, one of which took place as the victim held her baby.

She was repeatedly punched and kicked and was left screaming and crying.

“She became petrified of her husband and could not face going home,” the prosecutor told the court.

When police arrested him, he accepted what he had done . He said while his wife went out to work he would be left looking after the baby for long periods.
