Kirkham crash: Driver released from hospital as police say investigation will be ongoing 'for some time'
The incident happened on Station Road, Kirkham on July 4 when 19-year-old Gabriel Fields was hit by an Audi S3.
The university student suffered multiple injuries after being struck by the car and, despite the efforts of emergency crews, died a short time later.

A Lancashire Police spokesman confirmed yesterday that he has since been released from hospital. The passengers were released last week.
The police spokesman added: “The detailed police investigation is still ongoing, and will be for some time.
“The driver and all three passengers have now all been discharged from hospital. No arrests have been made at this time.”

Hide AdFollowing the incident, family, friends and the surrounding community have left dozens of tributes to Gabriel on Station Road where the incident happened.
In a tribute, Gabriel’s family said: “Sadly, (on July 4) our handsome son Gabriel Isaac Fields was tragically taken away from us.
“Gabriel was a kind, loving, and intelligent young man. He was an amazing son, brother and friend.
“Gabriel had a bright future ahead of him and had just completed his first year studying psychology at Salford University.

Hide Ad“Upon his return from university, Gabriel had been working in a local convenience store, and had become a key and hard working member of the team.
“Gabriel always found time for others, in particular his younger sister who adored him to the moon and back.’
“We love you Gabriel."
