A knife blade fell out of a prisoner’s jogging bottoms when he was asked to remove them after being taken into custody at Blackpool police headquarters.

Leon Olive had been arrested after he was seen pushing a moped he had taken from the town centre.
Olive, 31, of Moore Street, South Shore, pleaded guilty to possessing a blade and taking a moped without consent.

He was sentenced to six months’ prison suspended for 12 months, up to 35 days’ rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service, six months’ drug rehabilitation, fined £80 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £80 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Andrew Robinson, prosecuting, said police arrested Olive on January 9 .

He had previous convictions for possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a blade.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, told magistrates Olive said he used the blade for drug-taking. He did not produce the blade.
