Man arrested after woman in her 20s sexually assaulted in Blackpool

A man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault in Blackpool in which a woman in her 20s was grabbed inappropriately.

A woman in her 20s was approached by an unknown man as she was waking along Lower Walk, between Gynn Square and The Metropole Hotel, at around 10.25pm on Monday, May 25.

The man blocked her path and proceeded to expose himself before "grabbing her breasts and crotch", according to police.

The woman then ran off and the offender walked off towards Bispham.

Police have now confirmed a man from Blackpool has been arrested following an investigation.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "Following a media appeal a 25-year-old local man was arrested in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, May 28) on suspicion of sexual assault.

"They are currently in custody."
