A MAN accused of having an 18-inch ornamental sword in a St Annes street has made his first appearance at court.

William Anderson, 44, of Whitby Road, St Annes, denied possessing the sword as an offensive weapon in Whitby Road on February 5.

He also pleaded not guilty to possessing cocaine and asked for his case to be heard at crown court.

Anderson was bailed to September 5 for the committal of his case to the higher court by Blackpool magistrates.
