Police officers found the man injuried in Albert Street at around 1.30am on Monday.

Officers believe a man had approached the victim close to a nearby hotel. The man asked the 50-year-old for some change, which the victim provided.

The offender then punched the man, knocking him to the floor before searching his pockets and making off from the scene.

The victim, from the Ludlow area, suffered a dislocated shoulder, head injury and cuts to his fingers during the incident. He was later taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak to two men who provided information to officers at the scene.

Det Con Lea Kelly, of Blackpool CID, said: “We are appealing for information after a man was viciously assaulted in Blackpool.
