Man 'slashed' in alleyway attack

Police were called around 11.20pm on Tuesday following reports a man had been assaulted.

At around 11.10pm, a man had been walking on a pathway towards The Village Hotel from Lawson Road when he was approached by three men.

The men talked to the man before two of the group launched an unprovoked attack, punching and kicking the victim.

The man made off from the scene followed by one of the offenders who waved a knife at him, slashing the victim’s arm.

The offenders made off from the scene with the 39-year-old man taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment.

During the incident the victim dropped his coat containing £200. The coat was later recovered but the money had been taken.

The offenders are described as white and in their 20s.

Two of the men had beards and wore baseball caps.

Det Sgt Neil Smith, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are appealing for information after a man was the victim of an unprovoked assault in Blackpool.

“A police investigation is on-going and the offenders remain outstanding.

“I would urge anybody who may have information around this incident or those involved to contact police.”
