POLICE believe a man who died after being found badly beaten in his flat this weekend had been viciously attacked with an iron bar.
Detectives have been given a six hour time extension to question a murder suspect after Andrew Boardman, 53, was found with injuries to his head and chest at the address on Glen Eldon Road, St Annes, on Saturday.
He was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital but died some time later.
A murder probe was launched and three people, two men in their early 20s and a 19-year-old woman, were arrested.
Today police asked magistrates for extra time to question a 22-year-old man in relation to the incident.
Det Supt Dermott Horrigan, from the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “A murder investigation is under way and I would appeal to any witnesses or anybody with any information about this incident to come forward. We are still at the early stages of the investigation and are still trying to establish the circumstances of what has happened.
“Crime Scene investigators are continuing to examine the scene and officers are carrying out house to house enquires but I would be keen to speak with anybody that heard any disturbance on Glen Eldon Road, or with any knowledge of what has taken place to speak with police.”
