A spokesman for the Fylde Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We are aware that a story is circulating on a local social media site where reference has been made to police activity in the St Annes area.

"The story in circulation refers to a 'drug deal gone wrong' with speculation being made that this has resulted in a murder.

"We would like to reassure you all that this is not the case. We currently have an ongoing investigation into a serious assault with no outside area or organised crime links."
