A woman suffered facial injuries when a piece of plywood thrown by her boyfriend hit her.

Joseph Ward, 24, of Whittam Avenue, Marton, pleaded guilty to assaulting the mother-of-two.

Ward was bailed to March 14 for a court hearing where both prosecution and defence evidence will be heard by Blackpool magistrates.

He must not contact the complainant or enter her home road in St Annes, as conditions of his bail.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Ward deliberately threw a piece of plywood at his partner, which hit her in the face causing injuries on January 11.

Steven Townley, defending, told magistrates that Ward accepted he had thrown the plywood but not at his partner.
