Police step up presence in Fleetwood over tension between two groups

Fleetwood Police say they have boosted the number of officers out and about in the town because of increased tensions between two groups of people.

And they are appealing for information in relation to a number of offences they believe are linked to the tension between the two groups.

These included a disturbance at an address on Staveley Grove, Fleetwood on April 11 when a group of males were alleged to be making threats, criminal damage to a white Vauxhall Corsa on Egremont Avenue, Cleveleys on April 12 and a suspected arson after a beige VW Golf was set on fire on Martindale Avenue, Fleetwood on April 15.

A police spokesman said: "You may see us out and about in Fleetwood.

"We have increased the police presence in the area while investigations are ongoing in relation to increased tensions in the town between two groups of people, which has resulted in a number of crimes.

"We believe the incidents are targeted and there is not thought to be a threat to the wider public.
