Vandals can't halt famous drain hero

But it seems not everyone loves a Blackpool firm’s cheeky advertising stunt.

Marc Rose, who runs drain repair firm Jet Force, has been leaving his unique marketing van in prominent positions around the resort since April.

But the 29-year-old plumbing magnate was shocked last week when his company branded Ford Transit was vandalised in an overnight attack.

The van was parked in a lay-by off Fleetwood Road South in Thornton when it was targeted.

Marc said: “I’ve left it all over the Fylde coast.

“People recognise the van.

“It was just a marketing thing, I thought it was a good way to get the company name out.

“But last week I left it parked in a lay-by near Norcross Cricket Club.

“I got a call early the next day saying someone had smashed the windows in.”

When he arrived at the lay-by Marc was in for a shock.

He said: “The windows had been smashed in the passenger side door.

“The two tyres on the nearside had also been slashed.

“I can’t believe someone would do that.

“Why would you target a vehicle that’s just used to advertise a business.

“It was raining that night and the van was all wet inside.

“I had to get the damage fixed straight away to stop things getting worse.

“The van was back on the road within 24 hours.”

Marc, who lives in Normoss, did report the damage to police and made it clear the incident would not stop his off-the-wall marketing plan.

He said: “It cost around £350 to fix.

“This wasn’t my work van so it didn’t put the business out of action.

“But it’s still all the money you might make from a couple of small jobs gone to repair it.

“Hopefully this isn’t going to happen again.”

After the pictures of the damage were posted on social media Marc received dozens of messages of support from the public who were pleased to know the van was back on the road.
