Wallet taken from OAP after fall in Ma Kelly’s bar

An elderly man had his wallet taken when a group of people rushed to his aid after he fell over in a resort bar.

A man was arrested following the incident which happened in Ma Kelly’s bar, on the corner of Talbot Road and Dickson Road, Blackpool, shortly before 1pm on Friday, May 15.

The 79-year-old victim, a local man who is profoundly deaf and suffers from arthritis, lost his footing in the venue and fell to the floor, police said.

People went to help him but it was later discovered his wallet, including £40 in cash, was missing.

Christopher Grundy, 35, of Lytham Road, South Shore, was arrested and charged on suspicion of theft from a person.

He is due before court in June.
